Historical city in the central region of Portugal it covers an area of 316 km2 and approximately 140.000 resident inhabitants. Bathed by the Mondego river, Coimbra enchants all visitors with its Fado and academic parties, where students paint the town in black with their traditional cloths.

The historic area of the city: University of Coimbra, Alta and Soa were declared in 2013 World Heritage by UNESCO. The University of Coimbra is one of the greatest symbols of the city. Founded in 1290 by King D.Dinis, it is the oldest university in the country and one of the oldest in Europe.

There are several stories and legends about the university that could be described in many facts, but we want to leave some of them for you to find out when you visit our city.

To make you curious, we just say that in addition to the various colleges, you can also visit the Joanina Library, the Minerva Stairs, the Capelos Room, the University Tower and even the old University Prison.

Parque Verde Mondego, situated along the banks of the Mondego River in Coimbra, Portugal, is a spacious green area perfect for relaxation and outdoor activities. University of Coimbra

Founded in 1290 by King D. Dinis, the University of Coimbra is the oldest Portuguese-speaking university and one of the oldest in the world. The University of Coimbra has been considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013, due to its unique material and immaterial heritage.

The Baroque Library, also known as the Joanina Library, is the best example of Portuguese Baroque and is considered to be one of the richest European libraries. The Great Hall of Acts is the most important space at the University of Coimbra. It was the old Throne Room, and was the residence of the kings of the first Portuguese dynasty between 1143 and 1383. Now, it is where the most important ceremonies of the academic life take place.

Hiking in Lousã

Schist villages have already been called “magic villages”, their names sound like Romans, Arabs and even barbarians, but it is their characteristic appearance that makes them so fantastic. These structures dating back to medieval times exude an architectural beauty that is still difficult to match today, even more fascinating are the places where they are located due to the need to settle for pastoral and agricultural activities. Come see some of the most beautiful schist villages of Serra da Lousã as well as the breathtaking landscapes that this unique place has to offer… You can either hike between the villages or  take a jeep ride through the Lousã mountain range.

Cliff Jumping in Góis

Activity that involves descending Ribeira da Pena (Góis), jumping into the water, tobogganing, climbing, rappelling and crossing through the water. This stream runs through a steep and steep valley, whose bed, banks and slopes are formed by impressive cliffs that make this place almost inaccessible. This river is formed by countless waterfalls, lagoons and imposing rocks. This canyoning has an initial rappel of 35 meters to enter the river  and there are around a dozen cliff jumps of various heights.
